Located 16 miles (27 kilometers) off the coast of Cairns, Green Island is a lush tropical paradise located on the fringe of the Great Barrier Reef. Home to over 120 species of native flora, an abundance of brightly colored birds and an array of marine life, Green Island has everything you would expect from its ideal reef and rainforest location.
Departing from Cairns' Reef Fleet Terminal, your 45-minute luxury catamaran cruise to Green Island sets the scene for your 2-night tropical escape. Relax and enjoy the views along the coast where World Heritage Rainforest meets the reef. On arrival it's a short stroll to Green Island Resort and the rest of the day is free to explore the island and make use of the resort facilities.
On day 2 you have a leisurely start to the day with a late morning departure for your Outer Great Barrier Reef cruise. Join a 50-minute cruise to a permanently moored activity platform on the Outer Reef to experience the world-famous Great Barrier Reef. The multi-level platform features undercover seating and tables to enjoy a delicious buffet lunch, full bar facilities, a swimming enclosure for children, change rooms with freshwater showers, sun-deck, and scuba diving facilities (additional cost) with a semi-submerged platform.
There is plenty to do for swimmers and non-swimmers alike on a great day to the Outer Reef. Snorkel and dive (additional cost applies), visit the underwater observatory and cruise in a semi-sub, or just relax on the sun-deck and enjoy the tranquility of your surroundings. Snorkeling equipment is provided and buffet lunch is included.
You'll return to Green Island in time for sunset cocktails and dinner (additional cost). The rest of your 3-day stay is at leisure so you are free to take advantage of the non-motorized beach activities such as snorkeling, rainforest walks, kayaking, windsurfing and volleyball.

Fraser Island is the biggest sand island in the world, created over millennia from sand drifting off of mainland Australia. The next day, head further north to Kelly's Beach Resort, your home base for exploring the Great Barrier Reef. Take a full-day boat tour to Lady Musgrave Island on the Great Barrier Reef, where you can snorkel, swim in an area known for turtles, and discover the underwater world.

After pickup from your hotel by your local guide, head north to the lower Barron Gorge National Park in the heart of Cairns. Stop at Surprise Falls, a 797-foot (243m) high waterfall set among the lower Barron Gorge.
Continue climbing the Lamb Range to the west of Cairns and enjoy the spectaculars views over Cairns city and out towards Green Island on the Great Barrier Reef.
Next, visit Lake Morris and Copperlode Dam; this is Cairnsâ€™ water supply and is surrounded by rainforest covered mountains. There is time to stretch your legs at the unique location and get some amazing photos from the lookout prior to crossing the dam wall.
With an exclusive access permit, your 4WD will take to you to areas not open to the public, away from the crowds. Wind through some of the most amazing rainforests in the region and over the Great Dividing Range, one of the longest Mountain ranges in the world and Australiaâ€™s largest.
Continue through the rainforest, crossing several creek systems and stopping at a boardwalk for an interpretive overview of the rainforest from your guide. Here you will be introduced to the Clohesy River Fig, one of the most impressive fig trees in the tropics.
The next destination will take you from the lushness of the Wet Tropics rainforest to the beginning of Australiaâ€™s mighty Savannah country. You will truly be amazed at the rapid change in the forest types and scenery.
From here, head back onto the sealed road towards the Wet Tropic World Heritage area and into Kuranda Village. Continue to the Upper Barron Gorge National Park. Stop at the Wrights lookout for a stunning photo overlooking the Barron Gorge and back towards the coastal plains and Cairns City. Then, take a very short drive to the Barron Falls lookout to view possibly the most famous waterfall in Northern Queensland -- the mighty Barron Falls.
Head back towards Cairns via the Wet Tropic World Heritage drive on the Kuranda range, stopping at the Henry Ross Lookout overlooking the northern beach suburbs of Cairns and back out towards the Coral Sea before you are returned to your Cairns accommodation.

Departing from Port Douglas, the high-speed catamaran will take you directly to Agincourt Reef in 90 minutes. Or you can choose to travel by scenic helicopter and fly over the World Heritage-listed Daintree Rainforest and take in the views of the white sand cays and the magnificent colors as you fly over the Great Barrier Reef, arriving at Agincourt Reef in 35 minutes.
You'll have three hours to enjoy the reef at your leisure. Grab a snorkel and fins and hit the water on your own, or join an optional guided snorkeling tour with a qualified marine biologist. Snorkeling is a great way to explore the Great Barrier Reef, and there are friendly staff on hand to show you how.
Prefer to stay dry? You can explore the stunning reef from the comfort of a semi-submersible submarine. You'll take a leisurely cruise through colorful coral gardens, giving you a snorkeler's view of the marine life without getting wet.
A delicious hot and cold tropical buffet lunch is included, containing fresh prawns, pastas, meats, salads and fruit. There are full bar facilities available where you can purchase drinks.

Day 1 - Kuranda Scenic Railway with optional Rainforestation Tour
Enjoy a scenic, historical train journey through the Barron Gorge past cascading waterfalls to Kuranda, the village in the rainforest. Spend the day wandering the unique township, exploring the markets, unusual handicrafts and all that Kuranda has to offer.
Return to Cairns aboard the Skyrail Rainforest Cableway and glide over pristine World Heritage-listed rainforest suspended high above the lush tropical canopy. Enjoy stops along the way with interpretive boardwalks through the rainforest. The return transfer to your original departure point is included.
Rainforestation Upgrade: You can enhance your rainforest experience with an optional trip to Rainforestation. Experience a 45-minute rainforest tour, aboard a World War II Army Duck while your guide points out ferns, orchids, strangler figs and stinging trees, as well as birds such as the azure kingfisher and a host of other animals and reptiles. Enjoy a buffet lunch and the Dreamtime Walk where you will learn about Aboriginal culture with a traditional corroboree, boomerang and spear throwing. Day 2 Great Barrier Reef Cruise and Scenic 25-minute Helicopter Tour
Your trip begins with a cruise aboard Evolution to the Great Barrier Reef, where you'll spend five hours exploring two incredible reef destinations. Enjoy a tropical BBQ lunch with fish, prawns, steak and salads. Snorkeling is also included in your reef adventure with up to three optional dives (own expense) available for either the beginner or advanced diver. Glass-bottom boat coral viewing tours are also available but are payable direct on the day of travel. The day concludes with an amazing 30-minute scenic helicopter flight over five reef systems and cays arriving back in Cairns and finishing off your two day adventure in style.
Day 1: Cairns
After being picked up from your Cairns hotel, your first day is all about getting prepared to enter the water. Complete your medical checks and paperwork on site at 8am, then begin the dayâ€™s classroom and video sessions. If you donâ€™t pass the medical/swimming check, youâ€™ll receive a full refund on Day 1. After a break for lunch, join in the afternoonâ€™s pool training session, then be returned to your hotel.
Day 2: Cairns
On the second day of your PADI Open Water Diver course, there are more classroom and video sessions in the morning, including completion of a small exam. After the lunch break, refine your skills in the training pool.
Day 3: Cairns -- Great Barrier Reef (L)
Today takes you out to the Great Barrier Reef on board the cruise vessel known as the Evolution. Visit two great dive sites to carry out a series of training skills in the open water environment, and then put your training to the test by completing two dives. While out on the water, enjoy a barbecue lunch on board the boat.
Day 4: Cairns -- Great Barrier Reef (L)
On the fourth day of your dive course, return to the Great Barrier Reef dive sites aboard the Evolution. On the completion of two dives, plus all the paperwork, your instructor will present you with your PADI Open Water scuba-diving license! Enjoy a barbecue lunch served on the boat, and in the evening celebrate your new diving status with dinner and drinks.
Day 1: Whitsundays or Hamilton islands â€“ Great Barrier Reef (L, D)
Your 2-day trip to the Great Barrier Reef begins when you baord the high-speed catamaran from the Port of Airlie, Daydream Island or Hamilton Island. Cruise through the Whitsundays to Reefworld, arriving around 11am. The innovative pontoon features a waterslide, an interactive underwater viewing chamber, a semisubmersible and a spacious sun deck.
Snorkel around the colorful corals and marine life at the regionâ€™s acclaimed Great Barrier Reef site. The underwater wonderland will blow you away with its otherworldly neon hues and swirling schools of fish. For an in-depth experience, new and experienced scuba divers can go out with fully certified instructors (own expense). Refuel with a buffet lunch prepared by an award-winning restaurant from Airlie Beach, as well as an afternoon tea. Other refreshments are available at your own expense.
Throughout the day, you can lounge in the sun, check out the marine life from an underwater observatory. To learn more about the fragile ecosystem, donâ€™t miss presentations by reef experts. If you want to splurge, purchase a helicopter ride or massage.
Around 3pm, bid farewell to day-trippers. Only 18 passengers are allowed to stay on the boat, ensuring a tranquil overnight stay in a remote part of the reef. Itâ€™s the only place in Australia where you can sleep on the Great Barrier Reef!
After a day exploring the reef, head to the Reefsleep upper deck to unwind with a glass of wine (own expense) at sunset. Then, chat with fellow guests about your day over a gourmet barbecue, or opt for a more private setting in an underwater observatory! Underwater floodlights spotlight the marine lifeâ€™s nighttime activities.
Not all the action is below the surface. You can sprawl out on a lounge chair to see bright stars speckled across sky. When youâ€™re ready to retire, snuggle up in your swagâ€”a tent equipped with a mattress and bedding.

Day 2: Great Barrier Reef â€“ Whitsundays and Hamilton islands (B, L)
Wake up slowly, and then enjoy unobstructed views of the glassy water over a hearty breakfast. Once you are all packed up, head back down to the Reefworld pontoon before the day-cruise guests show up at 11am. The same activities will be available as the day before, giving you another chance to do your favorite things or try something new. Around 3pm, youâ€™ll be transported back to the Port of Airlie or Daydream or Hamilton island.
Spend several days exploring the natural wonders of Fraser Island with an expert guide, including a visit to Cooloola Recreation Area on the way. Enjoy guided walks through the rainforest at the Hammerstone Sandblow, Pile Valley, and Wanggoolba Creek; splash in the pristine waters of Eli Creek, Lake Birrabeen and Lake Wabby; and zip along Seventy-Five Mile Beach by 4WD vehicle to see Pinnacles and the Maheno Shipwreck. Day 2: Kuranda Day Trip

Upon arriving, visit the Rainforestation Nature Park where you will also enjoy the Pamagirri Aboriginal Experience. Next, take an Army Duck rainforest tour and a visit to the Koala &and Wildlife Park.
Next, enjoy a delicious BBQ buffet lunch before visiting the Australian Butterfly Sanctuary and beginning your return journey this time by the Skyrail Rainforest Cableway with your coach picking you up and transferring you back to your accommodation.
