Brisbane is the capital and most populous city in the Australian state of Queensland and the third most populous city in Australia. Brisbane's metropolitan area has a population of over 2 million and constitutes the core of the South East Queensland agglomeration, encompassing more than 3 million people. The Brisbane central business district stands on the original European settlement and is situated inside a bend of the Brisbane River approximately 23 kilometres from its mouth at Moreton Bay. The metropolitan area extends in all directions along the floodplain of the Brisbane River valley between the bay and the Great Dividing Range. While the metropolitan area is governed by several municipalities, a large proportion of central Brisbane is governed by the Brisbane City Council which is Australia's largest Local Government Area by population.

Brisbane is named after the river on which it sits which, in turn, was named after Scotsman Sir Thomas Brisbane, the Governor of New South Wales from 1821 to 1825. The first European settlement in Queensland was a penal colony at Redcliffe, 28 kilometres north of the Brisbane central business district, in 1824. That settlement was soon abandoned and moved to North Quay in 1825. Free settlers were permitted from 1842. Brisbane was chosen as the capital when Queensland was proclaimed a separate colony from New South Wales in 1859.

The city played a central role in the Allied campaign during World War II as the South West Pacific headquarters for General Douglas MacArthur. Brisbane has hosted many large cultural and sporting events including the 1982 Commonwealth Games, World Expo '88 and the final Goodwill Games in 2001. Brisbane is the largest economy between Sydney and Singapore and in 2008 it was classified as a Beta? world city in the World Cities Study Group?s inventory by Loughborough University. It was also rated the 16th most livable city in the world in 2009 by The Economist.

        close
It was just a typical late night at Puzzle Tech...until the CEO was found murdered in his office. Seeing how after-hours access requires an employee card, the police have locked down the building and is now treating everyone that was still inside as a possible suspect. You are now locked inside the building and the only way out is to prove your innocence by help solving the murder. But be careful, the real culprit might be among you.

You are an employee of the infamous IT corporation, Puzzle Tech Enterprise. The prestigious 40 storey high office building overlooks the entire CBD. It’s Thursday night and you are still staying late trying to finish the remaining task your reporting manager handed you 5 minutes before 5pm. It has been a long and quiet night since you weren’t aware there were anybody else left in the building.

Suddenly, the door behind you opens and a team of men in uniform storm in. Before you realised, you were handcuffed and slammed onto the ground. In a cold and uneasy voice, the man holding you down yelled, “This is the police. You are under arrest for the murder of Benjamin Pierce”.

You are confused with the event that has just happened in the last few seconds. It wasn’t me, you thought. Isn’t Benjamin Pierce the head of finance at Puzzle Tech? You are ushered into the room that Mr. Pierce was murdered where there are several more people being detained also. You recognise them as other Puzzle Tech employees. Looks like it's going to be a long night after all.

Puzzled Room Escape: Haunted Academy more_vert
        $22.00 AUD Book
        close
There is an old school tale passing from one student to another at Puzzled Academy.

As the tale is told, an evil is lurking in the prestigious academy. Someone, or some'thing', insidious, dark and sickening is lusting for blood. On 31 October when the moon is high above the school, the evil returns for its next prey.

It was a tale only meant for scaring the faint-hearted ones. But after another disappearance of a young school girl, things started to spiral out of control.

"To the members of the Supernatural Society,

This is your president. Rather than our usual Alien jokes and Ghostbusters movie marathon talk, I wish to bring a serious note in today's society announcement. I am calling for your help to find the whereabouts of Miss Sharon Hommes, a long time friend of mine, and the vice president of our society.

She was last seen leaving Alchemy class on Monday. Her parents informed the police of her disappearance that night. The conversation also revealed that her disappearance may be related to the multiple counts of kidnapping over the last few years, which the police commissioner decided to shut down all investigations on due to a lack of progress. How do I know all this, you ask? One of our society members overhead his police dad talking on phone last night and brought it to my attention.

We cannot wait for the police to get their act together. We must take the matter in our own hands and find Sharon. I am calling for all members to assist in our investigation, starting at the now closed police investigation office in the abandoned school building.

If you believe you have the courage to face the danger ahead and get to the bottom of this mystery, register below and we will begin our search for Sharon once we've gathered our team members."

Brisbane Brewery Tour Including Newstead Brewing Co, Green Beacon, Hipwood and All Inn more_vert
        $160.00 AUD Book

Visit local craft beer breweries in Brisbane, including Newstead Brewing Co, Green Beacon Hipwood Brewery, and All Inn Brewing Co. Small groups experience unique flavours and a fun day out sampling new beers and supporting the local community. Are you ready to hop On?

After your pick up, you will begin your day by visiting Newstead Brewing Co. where you have the chance to sample their core range of beers – plus maybe a few seasonal brews if you’re lucky. One of their sensational team members will guide the group through a behind-the-scenes tour of the production floor as we discuss the ingredients in and process of making beer.

Learning about the brewing process can be thirsty work, so at your second stop, Green Beacon, you not only get to taste six of their core range and special release beers.

Enjoy lunch and another tasting paddle at the historic Hipwood Brewery located within the International Hotel. Plus, on-site is one of the best bottle shops of Brisbane for any takeaways you desire.

After a leisurely visit, end your day with a stop at All Inn Brewing Co. or Bacchus Brewing. They’ve not only got a core range to taste, but are constantly creating some new and exciting flavors that you may find on tap.

Once back in the city, you will be dropped off at a local pub where you can keep drinking delicious beer to your hearts’ content.

Your local operator will try and catch the brewers in action but that can’t always be guaranteed; keep an open mind on the day because no matter what or who you see, the beers are always delicious. Sometimes the itineraries will change at a whim; this may be because of traffic, a last-minute decision from the brewery or any number of things, so your local operator asks for your patience and flexibility.

        close
Visit local craft beer breweries and sample brews from Tamborine, including Fortitude Brewing Co and Beard & Brau with a start at Newstead Brewing Co in the city. This is a small group experience featuring unique flavours and a fun day out sampling new beers and supporting the local community.

After your pick up, we will begin the day by visiting Newstead Brewing Co where you're encouraged to sample all the core range of beers on tap - plus maybe a few seasonal or one-off beers currently available. Your guides will take you through beer ingredients, including some witty, historical commentary, and enlist a brilliant Newstead team member to walk you through the brewery and explain the complete brewing process.

From Newstead we have a leisurely drive (about 70 minutes) to the top of Mount Tamborine. Take in the stunning scenery along the way, chat with your fellow beer appreciators, swap first-beer stories, or maybe play some trivia and win prizes!

Upon arrival at Fortitude Brewing we will see the working brewery and all the equipment involved in producing some delicious beer. We warm your palate up with a tasting paddle of their core beers so you can decide which you want to enjoy with lunch.

Once your belly has a bit of lining in it, we’ll give you some free time to explore the Gallery Walk on your own (45-60 minutes depending on time), where you can pick up souvenirs, taste fudge or even mix up the day by sampling some local wines (at your own cost).

Upon your return to Fortitude Brewing we will provide you with your pre-ordered pizza and a schooner of your choice. As soon as everyone has finished their lunch, we'll load up the van to continue down the hill (roughly 30 minutes) to our next stop.

Be aware that the road down is a bit windy, so if you suffer from motion or car sickness, please ensure you have something to combat it or sit near the front of the van.

The amazing brewer from Beard & Brau, Chris "Fish" Herring, teamed up with his wife Tanya and created the newly-opened Malty Grain, a farmhouse-style restaurant serving Beard & Brau on tap with plates of tapas and desserts to sample. With an events calendar hosting everything from live music to beer-and-food matching degustations, guests will be pleasantly surprised with the warm and inviting atmosphere here.

Situated on roughly 4 acres, the Malty Grain is a diamond in the rough, located on the outskirts of Beenleigh, and provides a beautiful setting for relaxing and enjoying a unique style of beer. Fish is usually around to answer any questions that come up, also, and we can have a discussion here about the environmental impacts of beer, sustainability in the industry and how drinking local is better for the world!

Unfortunately all good things must come to an end, so once we leave here we will head back to Brisbane - roughly a 35 minute drive. We are happy to drop you where you were picked up, or at one of our partner pubs where you can carry on with a few more craft beers.

        $149.00 AUD Book
        close
Discover the beaches and wildlife of Queensland on a guided day trip to North Stradbroke Island, just a short hop from Brisbane. Famous for its natural attractions, including a resident population of kangaroos and koalas, the island also offers walking tracks, marine wildlife viewing, and a relaxed atmosphere in small townships. Swim in the surf or freshwater lakes, take a short guided hike, and have free time to explore. This tour operates with a maximum of 13 people, ensuring you’ll enjoy a small-group experience with your expert guide.

After pickup in central Brisbane, travel by coach with your guide about one hour to reach the ferry to North Stradbroke Island. Keep an eye out for dolphins on the 30-minute cruise across Moreton Bay to the island.

When you arrive at the island, your friendly and experienced guide will show you the highlights. You’ll visit Brown Lake, named for the clear tea-colored water tinted by leaves from the surrounding forest. Relax on the lake’s white-sand beach or take a refreshing swim!

Then head to the North Gorge Walk to Point Lookout, following your guide along a well-marked trail and boardwalk. Look for turtles, dolphins or manta rays swimming in the waters below you. At the point, marvel at Whale Rock, where water sprays from the rock like a whale’s spout. You may even see the real thing when humpback whales migrate through these waters from May to October.

The interior of the island is also home to native wildlife. Your guide will take you to spots where you can hope to see kangaroos lazing in the sun or koalas chomping on eucalyptus leaves. Next, visit Myora Springs, a picturesque fresh water spring surrounded by tropical forest. Myora Springs made history as the site of a significant colonial-era battle between the military and local Aborigines.

Moreton Island Day Trip from Brisbane or the Gold Coast Including Kayaking and Sandboarding more_vert
        $139.00 AUD Book
        close
Travel to Moreton Island from Brisbane or the Gold Coast for a full day of fun in the sun. Your guide takes you by 4WD vehicle along the sands to Tangalooma Wrecks, where you'll see incredible coral reefs on snorkel and kayak outings. You'll also go inland for an exhilarating sandboarding experience on massive sand dunes. This action-packed tour includes a picnic lunch on the beach and time to soak up the scenery of lovely Moreton Island, the third largest sand island in the world.

In the morning, your 4WD coach picks you up from the Gold Coast or Brisbane, then travels to the ferry to Moreton Island. During the 75-minute ferry ride across Moreton Bay, take in views from the deck or cabin, keep an eye out for dolphins and other marine life.

When you reach the island, your 4WD-vehicle drives along the sand to the Tangalooma Wrecks where you have several options for beachside fun. Follow your guide on a snorkeling tour of the famous shipwrecks; the 15 vessels were purposely sunk here to create a breakwall. This resulting reef is home to colorful corals, tropical fish, trevally, yellowtail, wobbegong, kingfish and more.

If snorkeling doesn’t appeal to you, use the provided transparent bodyboards to paddle in search of turtles, reef fish, coral and other critters, or simply relax on the white-sand beach.

After the snorkel tour, your guide serves a picnic lunch before leading a tour on transparent kayaks to explore the Tangalooma Wrecks. Stay dry as you view an amazing array of fish right below your kayak. (Please note that a 4WD tour around the island will replace the snorkeling and kayaking if conditions are unfavorable).

Next, hang on tight as your driver takes your 4WD on rough inland tracks to tall sand dunes that are ideal for sandboarding, a fun, high-adrenaline activity comparable to tobogganing. It is possible to reach speeds of up to 30 mphr (50 kph) as you zip down the dunes.

After sandboarding, return to the coast and enjoy a swim at Tangalooma Beach (if time allows). Then catch the ferry back to the mainland and reach Brisbane or the Gold Coast in the evening.

Brisbane Shore Excursion: Private Insider City Tour more_vert
        $54.00 AUD Book
        close
When your cruise ship docks in Brisbane, see the city on a private tour with an expert local guide who shares the city’s current hotspots and gritty history. This is not a cookie-cutter sightseeing tour, rather you discover the city's best restaurants, bars and brewpubs, trendsetting fashion designers, public art and architecture among laneways where new energy has spawned a cultural renaissance. Learn about Brisbane’s origins as a brutal penal colony, the Aboriginal peoples, the legacy of World War II and preparations for the ANZAC Centenary. You might even hop on a ferry for another perspective on the city. Enjoy a customized experience on this insider tour with a private guide.

Your guide meets you at the port to start your tour of Brisbane. After a quick ferry ride, you get to explore downtown’s laneways (alleys) for about three hours. The mix of innovative cafés, bars, shops, restaurants and art galleries breathe life into the area's public space.

Whether you love new fashion, innovative drinks, art, or gourmet eats, your knowledgeable guide shows you local favorites that suit your interests.

Learn about the origins of Brisbane, which was traditionally a ceremonial and trading crossroads for Aboriginal peoples in the region. European settlers established it as a penal colony where the “worst of the worst” were sent for lives of hard labor and punishment. See Brisbane's two remaining convict-built buildings, the Old Windmill and the Commissariat Store.

Then hear how the city developed into a modern commercial center and, more recently, a desirable destination with a cutting edge arts, food and nightlife scene. You might take a short ferry ride on a CityCat to get views from the Brisbane River and explore the banks of this vital waterway.

Stop at the building where the WWII command offices of General Douglas MacArthur were located, now the home of the MacArthur Museum. Your guide shares stories from WWII-era Brisbane, such as the 1942 Battle of Brisbane when tensions between Australian and US troops erupted in two nights of rioting. You can also stroll through ANZAC Square, an urban park with a memorial to ANZAC troops.

Expect to walk at a leisurely pace with plenty of stops during your 3-hour private tour. Afterward, hop on the ferry to return to the port, where your shore excursion finishes.

        Worry-Free Shore Excursion:
We will ensure your timely return to the Brisbane port for this activity. In the rare event your ship has departed, we will arrange for transportation to the next port-of-call. Check out the animal exhibits at the Australia Zoo, made famous by Crocodile Hunter Steve Irwin, then head to the cool mountains to explore Montville and Mary Cairncross Scenic Reserve. Learn about the plants of this subtropical zone during an optional guided rain forest walk that wraps up the day.

Your full-day tour starts with morning pickup at the Jen Hotel in Brisbane followed by a one-hour drive in an air-conditioned minivan to reach the legendary Australia Zoo.

Enjoy about four hours on your own to explore the fascinating exhibits at Australia Zoo. The newest exhibit, Africa, features spacious plains like the African Savannah where rhinos, cheetahs, giraffes, zebras and other exotic animals live. Get close views of Sumatran felines at the Tiger Temple, and feel your heart race as crocodiles emerge from clear water pools during the Crocoseum show.

From time to time, handlers walk animals through the park, giving you the opportunity for an up-close encounter. You can also participate in a Birds of Prey experience or meet Outback stars like the dingo, wombat, lemur and tortoise. You can even hand-feed kangaroos and pat a cuddly koala. Check the schedule for the day’s shows and demonstrations.

After an exciting morning with the animals, meet your guide for the 30-minute journey to the Sunshine Coast Hinterland. Enjoy mountain scenery and a cooler climate as you approach the town of Montville, which sits at 1,310 feet (400 meters) above sea level. Admire the town’s eye-catching architecture as you walk the streets lined with art galleries, wineries, and restaurants. There is even enough time to pop into boutiques selling items such as handmade candy, cheese, clothing and crafts.

Then continue down the road to Mary Cairncross Scenic Reserve. Your guide leads you on an optional walk through the rain forest’s towering trees and vibrant plant life. Looking across the Hinterlands, snap photos of the Glass House Mountains and views that extend all the way to the Coral Sea.

Return to your starting point in Brisbane in the early evening at the end of your 9-hour tour.

Explore Brisbane by bicycle on a leisurely tour with a local guide who shows you the highlights of this dynamic city, including the South Bank Parklands, Central Business District and City Botanic Gardens. Pedal along bike paths near the Brisbane River and learn about the city’s history and landmarks, plus get the inside scoop on great restaurants, bars, shops and nightlife from the perspective of a local. On the longer morning tour, you also visit New Farm and Teneriffe; in the summer (remember, that is December–February here), you can opt for a twilight tour.

Make your way to South Bank Parklands to meet your guide. Begin the tour with a safety briefing, and get outfitted with a sturdy city bike and helmet.

Set off past the Wheel of Brisbane and Streets Beach, a popular swimming beach that overlooks the central business district and Brisbane River. Your guide points out fine dining and entertainment hot spots along the way.

Head to Kangaroo Point Cliffs, which were quarried for stone in the 1800s. You'll hear how the stone was used to build structures such as The Old Windmill and the Commissariat Store.

Your guide shares Brisbane's history going back to the original Aboriginal inhabitants of the region, and points out key landmarks as you wheel around central Brisbane, stopping regularly for great photo ops and water breaks.

Choose from a 3.5-hour morning or 2-hour afternoon tour year-round, and a 2-hour twilight tour option in the summer months (remember, that is December–February here - see details in Itinerary below).

Total distance traveled varies depending on the riding abilities and interests of the participants, and your guide can adjust the itinerary to suit the group. All tours end with return to your starting point in South Bank Parklands.

Moreton Bay Marine Park Dolphin Cruise Including Lunch more_vert
        $109.00 AUD Book
        close
Discover the natural wonders of Moreton Bay Marine Park with a naturalist guide during a 7-hour excursion to Moreton Island. Your day includes a dolphin cruise where you also look for resident turtles, dugong and whales (in season). An optional guided snorkeling tour of the Tangalooma Wrecks or Flinders Reef and a fish feeding demo provide opportunities to check out colorful fish up close. Have free time to swim, climb sand dunes or simply relax on the beach. Includes optional transport from Brisbane or Gold Coast hotels, morning and afternoon tea, and a tasty buffet lunch.

After pickup, meet your guide and board a comfortable 50-foot (15-meter) catamaran. Snack on morning tea during the ride to Moreton Island and learn from your naturalist guide about the animal life and ecosystem of the vibrant marine park.

When you arrive, hop into the water with your guide for the optional 1-hour guided snorkeling tour of either the Tangalooma Wrecks or Flinders Reef site (depending on the day’s conditions).

Considered one of the best snorkeling sites in Queensland, Tangalooma Wrecks was formed in the 1960s when 15 ships were purposely sunk to create a breakwater. Corals then colonized the wrecks and the critters moved in, forming a spectacular site for snorkeling. Flinders Reef is another fantastic underwater site and Brisbane’s only true coral reef. If you prefer to stay dry, your guide provides other options to enjoy Moreton Bay.

Return from the snorkeling tour and get great photo ops of the fish that circle your boat during a fish feeding demonstration. Afterward, tuck into a delicious fresh seafood and chicken lunch buffet, followed by free time when you can relax on the beach or walk on the sand dunes.

Next, keep your eyes peeled during the wildlife discovery cruise. Your boat heads to prime spots to spot bottlenose dolphins, loggerhead turtles, and the rare and endangered dugong. From June to November humpback whales can also be seen during their annual migration. Sightings of these wild animals are very likely, but not guaranteed.

At the end of an amazing 7-hour tour, your boat returns to the mainland.
